computer confidence

Q. What are your charges?

A. For lessons £12.50 per hour in my home or £12.50 - £15 per hour if I travel to you within a reasonable distance from Farnham. PC Repairs vary depending on diagnosis. Web Site design from £50.

Q. My friend and I are interested in having some lessons - could we share the costs?

A. You are welcome to share lessons. My hourly rates are as set out here but it is impracticable to accommodate more than 2 people in my home

                 Persons                    Fee per Hour

Q. I am about to buy a new system from PC World. Would you set it up for me?

A. Yes, but bear in mind that with the unpacking, connecting of monitor, router, speakers or any peripherals, configuring your Internet connection etc....all this is likely to take more than 1 hour.

Q. I am useless with computers. I start on something and usually end up totally frustrated as I get totally lost, it all seems so complicated. What would you advise?

A. Confidence. You have probably learnt how to drive, but you had to be shown the correct way to go about it with logical progressive lessons that advanced you to a competent level. It would be a similar procedure with your computer.

Q. In the past I've had to call out an engineer when my computer crashed or taken it to a shop for repair when I thought I had messed it up. It usually turned out to be something simple and I felt such a fool. How can I tell if it's something serious or not?

A. I can understand your frustration. As you've discovered - a lot of problems are due to a change in settings on the computer or are software related. Many of these problems can be sorted out over the phone and if you speak to someone like me who has gone through similar situations I hope I would be able to deal with it sympathetically and without embarrassment to you.

Q. I am out at work all day but feel I would benefit from some of your lessons in my own home. Would you give tuition in the evenings?

A. I try to fit in with my customers' lifestyles. I am available evenings and weekends. I am happy to discuss times that suit you.

Q. I've heard you design and set up web sites for people. I want to expand my small business with a web site. Can you help?

A. Possibly. I designed and set up this computer-tutor web site myself, plus several others for small builders and sole traders etc. An example (here) this web site for a local decorator.

If you think I can help you in any way please feel free to contact

me for an informal discussion. Hope to hear from you, Jeff.
